Purisalv Chia
Purisalv chia is just a brand of chia seeds. There is a lot of confusion when it comes to chia seeds and the different types of brands associated with chia and its tremendous health benefits.
Let’s look at a few different terms of chia, so we have better grasp of what it all means.
Chia – The chia plant is a member of the mint family and originated in Guatemala and southern Mexico. Chia seeds are known for having the richest plant source of Omega-3, antioxidants, and a whole host of other beneficial nutrients.
Salvia Hispanica, Purisalv Chia, Salba
Salvia Hispanica – Scientific name for chia.
Purisalv chia - Is a brand of chia seeds.
Salba - Is a specific brand of white chia seeds.
Some people believe that white chia seeds provide more health benefits than the black chia seeds. However, studies show that chia seed color is more a result of what particular region the seed was harvested and not its nutritional value.
When studying the differences between white and black chia seeds, for the most part there is no nutritional difference between the two colored seeds. If anything, the black seeds contain slightly more antioxidants than white.
Chia is a Seed
Some people mistakenly refer to chia, as a sort of grain that you consume, but technically it is considered a seed.
The purisalv chia brand is known as a natural whole seed chia that is packaged in a FDA certified G.M.P. or Good Manufacturing Practices facility.
Purisalv chia seeds are known for never being ground up, allowing them to reach their customers fresh and in their purest form.
How Much Chia Should a Person Consume?
One of the questions I routinely get asked about chia seeds is how much should a person take on a daily basis?
In a way the answer is sort of like, which came first, the chicken or the egg? The best answer is probably a circle because there is no beginning or end.
However, since we must answer the question I would say that because purisalv chia is a food, you could probably eat as much as you wanted. But a better question would be how much chia should a person consume to get their daily allotment of Omega-3?
Purisalv Chia and Omegas!
Chia seeds are known for having the highest amount of Omega-3 acids from any other plant source. What makes Omegas so important is that our bodies don’t produce them.
In other words, we have to get them from the foods that we consume. Omegas are so important to our biological functions that support growth and development.
A good amount of chia seeds to consume on a daily basis is about two to three teaspoons. You have to be careful how you consume chia seeds because like regular chia seeds the seeds absorb about 9-12 times their weight in water.
So if you eat Purisalv chia seeds raw, they will absorb the water in your body, possibly leading to dehydration and cramps. I would soak the seeds in a cup of water for about 15 minutes so they turn into a gel-like substance, then add them to your oatmeal, cereal, protein shake, or just drink it down after soaking.
